“From a young shy girl, I became a store manager!”
I started working at Oakam when I was 17, I was doing leafleting for the Barking store a few days per week while I was studying. After I finished my studies I applied for a CRM position and got a job at the Romford store. I was soon promoted to General Manager for the East Ham store. The only thing I can say is that Oakam is the place where I grew as a strong person and gained so much experience. From a young shy girl, I became a store manager!
“An environment that nurtures talent and helps you grow”
I manage the Learning and Development of our people. My background is in Retail and I started life with Oakam 10 years ago, opening and managing the first wave of Oakam stores between 2007-2010. We work in an environment that nurtures talent and helps you grow as a team player, as a professional and as a person. Oakam makes you resilient, entrepreneurial and creative in your approach to business and in your approach to life.
Innovation is at heart of what we do and is visible through our start-up spirit. Working at Oakam, you will be given the opportunity to discover, be creative and take initiative.
“Few employers offer the chance to build this breadth of expertise”
I chose to work at Oakam, after completing an MBA at London Business School. Since, I received a unique opportunity to enable financial inclusion at scale by leveraging technologies such as gamification. I also developed new skills in product management and fintech. Oakam truly values passion and agility. I’ve been trusted to lead projects in app development and strategic partnerships with fintech players despite my lack of experience in consumer lending. Few employers offer the chance to build the breadth of expertise that I’ve seen at Oakam.
“Extremely rewarding and fulfilling”
I have been working alongside the CFO to drive the strategy of the business, and support the operations on a daily basis. Coming from a big multinational company, I was really attracted by the dynamism, fast pace and pro-activity of Oakam. The ability to influence the future of the company and having a voice alongside the executive committee members is extremely rewarding and fulfilling.
