We invited Norlington School in Leyton to take part in our ‘Oakam Car’
competition. Six teams competed to come up with a design to represent
Oakam and our commitment to your community.
All the boys visited our Walthamstow store to find out more about Oakam. It
was a fun experience. And all left with a clear idea about Oakam’s unique
range of financial services.
To make this a real project, the teams had to find a car branding company, get
quotes and co-ordinate lead times. Each team then had to make a 20 minute
presentation to the judging panel.
The boys responded with some great ideas. After much debate the “PayDay
Loaners” team were voted overall winners and each boy was given a special
certificate. Oakam will also mentor two runner-up teams in the years to come
to help them achieve their career ambitions.
In fact, the designs were so good that Oakam took all the boys on a great day
out at Thorpe Park.
The project was a great experience for the boys, who were thrilled by the
award. All made new friends, learnt about teamwork, decision-making and
responsibility. But most of all they had fun. Look out for the Oakam car on your streets now!
